The Professional School Darmstadt 1947-48
The School Building on the Steubenplatz 17
The school was established in the old train station building at the Steubenplatz 17 in Darmstadt. The building hosts today the State Welfare Department
On the Steubenplatz square was ironically previously (from 1937) the so called "Jacob Sprengler Haus" which was the headquarter of the fighters for nationalsozialism in the area Hessen-Nassau and today after demolition, the new building holds the Social Court of the State Hessen (Hessisches Landessozialgericht)
The Darmstaedter Echo, Tuesday December 9, 1947 tells of the building which hosted the School:
"Die erste juedische Berufsfachschule, die in Deutschland besteht, wurde am Freitag im Rahmen einer Feier im alten Bahnhofsgebaeude am Steubenplatz in Darmstadt durch den Leiter der Militaerregierung fuer den Stadt- und Landkreis Darmstadt, Oberst Rose eroeffnet."
